Primary objective

EW Scripps is seeking an Evening Anchor/Multimedia Reporter to join our CBS affiliate, KTVQ in Billings, Montana, to serve communities by providing the highest level of ethical and honest reporting.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Gathers unbiased content affecting the community
  • Able to deliver news in a fluent, conversational, approachable, yet authoritative tone.
  • Prepares story elements for presentation on multiple platforms (TV, web and mobile)
  • Work with newsroom employees and personal sources to develop engaging, accurate and ethical newscasts
  • Anchor multiple reports, from breaking news to investigative reporting
  • Organizing and setting up interviews and video shoots
  • Write story content and edit and revise video to put stories together
  • Participate in station and independent community service events and activities
  • Follow Scripps’ Journalism Ethical Guidelines
  • Report, write, capture quality content, edit and produce stories for multiple platforms on time, such as internet and digital channels
  • Engage viewers via social media daily
  • Other assigned duties

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism is preferred
  • 2+ years of experience as a presenter/rapporteur preferred

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Strong broadcast and digital writing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of local, regional and national news
  • Works well under pressure and at a fast pace
  • Working knowledge of all social media platforms

Working environment

  • Sitting, walking and standing.
  • Flexible working hours required including holidays, weekends, evenings, possible overtime and on call.
